The full size chimney and the cube box

Separate pieces of the lighting setup
CandidatePartWhat it supplies
Rapidfire Chimney Starter7416The full size charcoal chimney. Weber lists two handles for control while pouring.
Lighter Cubes7417A box of 24 cubes for ignition. The cube is a consumable, separate from the chimney.

The compact Rapidfire is part 7447 and should not be substituted when comparing the size or capacity of 7416.

Choose a useful fuel load before filling the chimney

A quick meal for two and a long kettle cook need different fire plans. Follow the grill, starter and fuel instructions for the load and arrangement. A large chimney does not mean every meal requires it to be filled.

Write down the starting weight of charcoal when learning a setup. Equal scoops of different charcoal products can weigh differently, and a consistent starting load makes the next cook easier to compare.

Plan for the hot tool before lighting

  1. Read the instructions for the chimney, cubes and grill together.
  2. Choose the permitted outdoor lighting surface and keep the area clear according to those instructions.
  3. Have suitable heat protection and a stable place for the empty hot chimney ready before pouring.
  4. Keep the starter attended and follow the maker's directions for when the charcoal is ready.

Do not use a advertised lighting time as a promise for every fuel load and weather condition. This guide does not report a timed ignition comparison.

Match the refill to the product

Check the cube count, package directions and the selected chimney part number before comparing offers. A two piece fire starter pack, a compact chimney and a box of 24 cubes are different purchases even when the same brand appears on all three.

If a chimney you already own is in sound condition and suits the grill, the missing item may be only the appropriate ignition supply. Inspect handles and the body as the maker directs before use.

Build the meal around the fire

The Kingsford Original guide and lump and briquette guide help separate fuel choice from lighting equipment. Start with a familiar meal such as sliders and corn while learning the setup.
